Three additional pipeline tests.
The methodology behind our reproductive health portfolio applies wherever inherited differences in one-carbon metabolism determine who is affected and who responds.
Three programs
- Extends the reproductive portfolio
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD)
The closest extension of the reproductive portfolio. Choline supplementation has produced measurable neurodevelopmental benefit following prenatal alcohol exposure, in mothers during pregnancy and in affected children, with differences still present at four-year follow-up. Not every child benefits. A genotype analysis from clinical trials distinguished responders from non-responders, with variants affecting choline transport associated with which children improved.
-
Fatty Liver (MASLD)
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease is a leading cause of chronic liver disease, and the therapies approved for its advanced stage treat established fibrosis rather than prevent it. Clinical work has established inherited differences in one-carbon metabolism which influences who accumulates liver fat, how early, and who improves when those nutrients are addressed. The company is developing a test with algorithm and nutritional intervention to help identify these patients early to help prevent and reverse disease progression.
-
Exertional Muscle Breakdown (Rhabdomyolysis)
Some people have difficulty building muscle mass despite exertion to do so. Where no structural or metabolic myopathy is identified, the cause is usually recorded as unexplained. Completed clinical studies have identified 10% of humans who have a genetic pattern leading to muscle breakdown. The company is developing the test and nutritional intervention to address this health issue. Applications: athletic, military, first-responder populations, and with the elderly (Sarcopenia).
Partnering
All three programs are open to commercial and research collaboration.
